Cooking times will vary depending on the volume and type of rice that you are making. Please also bear in mind that different types of rice, their age and the rice harvesting process could have a slight influence on the cooking process so be relaxed and adapt the cooking process so suit your individual taste and type of rice you are cooking. In Japan, for example, it is well known that you should use slightly less water with a new crop of rice and a bit more with old rice. You may also want to slightly reduce the amount of water as the volume of rice to be cooked increases.
Of course, when cooking rice many Japanese people will swear by the "finger or knuckle method" (enough water to come up to the first knuckle of your index finger) so have fun with your rice cooker and don't be afraid to experiment with different rices, cooking methods and recipes. Oh, and if you intend to flavour or cook aromatic rice its probably worth mixing this with your water from the outset.
Instructions for Cooking Rice
Measure the required quantity of rice using the cup provided - we would recommend using between 2-cups and 8-cups of uncooked rice depending on the type of rice and volume of water to be used.
Wash the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear
Put the pre-washed rice in the inner cooking bowl ensuring the surface is level and add the required amount of water and allow time for the rice to soak
Close the lid and using the PROGRAM BUTTON select RICE and then press START
The display will turn RED, when the rice has finished cooking it will automaticaly change to GREEN which is the keep warm setting
Let the rice "rest" and steam for a short time before eating.
Stir the contents to release any excess moisture, this will ensure the rice is fluffier.
When keeping a small amount of rice warm in the rice cooker, gather this towards the middle of the inner bowl to prevent it becoming dry
